Just ahead of its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, Audi has officially released full details and photos of the 2013 A3 Sportback.
Offered with a choice of 13 exterior colors (two pearl-effect finishes, eight metallic finishes and three solid finishes), the A3 Sportback is 4,310 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,425 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,636 mm long. Its wheelbase is 35 mm longer than the three-door version and 58 mm longer than the current A3 Sportback.
The five-door model can provide a boot space of 380 liters, it's 15 liters more than the three-door model and 10 liters more than the model it replaces. The capacity can expand to 1,220 liters (43.08 cu ft) with the rear seats folded down.
Thanks to the adoption of the MQB platform, the A3 Sportback weighs up to 90 kg less than its predecessor. The version, which is equipped with the 1.4 TFSI engine, weighs 30kg more than the equivalent three-door at 1,205 kg.
At launch, engine options will include a 1.4- and a 1.8-liter TFSI gasoline engines and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel. More engines, including a smaller 1.2-liter TFSI which produces 105 hp and 175 Nm of torque, will be added to the lineup before the end of next year. All models come as standard with a manual 6-speed gearbox or an optional S Tronic.
Not earmarked for U.S. sales, the 2013 Audi A3 Sportback is scheduled to hit European dealerships next February. It will cost between £19,825 to £27,810.
