French carmaker Renault has recently announced the Megane R.S. 265 will start at AUD$42,640 when it goes on sale in Australia on August 28.
Available in three specification levels (Cup, Trophy and Trophy+), the model is equipped with Renault Sport’s Cup chassis with a limited slip differential and a set of 18-inch black alloy wheels as standard. There's also an optional R.S. Red Design Pack which includes the side protective moldings, red pin-striping for the F1 blade and rear diffuser.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 265 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque (15 hp and 20 Nm more than the Megane R.S. 250). It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in six seconds and hit a top speed of 255 km/h. In terms of efficiency, it returns 8.2-liter/100km and CO2 emissions of 190 g/km.
