Gumpert announced today that it has applied for insolvency proceedings in its home country after plans to increase sales on the Chinese market can not be realized.

The German supercar manufacturer filed with the local court in Gera and the lawyer appointed to adminster Gumpert's insolvency process, Görge Scheid, says that the company's chances of recovery are good. Meanwhile, the Altenberg company will discuss with potential new investors this week.

In a statement, Roland Gumpert said "The Apollo has gained an exclusive fan base throughout Germany and Europe. Now we have taken care of this customer base intensely. Production continues and we hope to sell the first vehicle within this week."

Currently, Gumpert has 30 employees and produces the super sports car "Apollo". The company was founded in 2004 by longtime Audi Manager Roland Gumpert. Early 2012, Gumpert showed at the Geneva Motor Show two supercars, the Apollo and the Apollo R Enraged.
