BMW has recently announced plans to unveil the Z4 M35i at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
According to the German carmaker, the M Performance version of the Z4 Roadster will replace the current sDrive35is and will be an addition to the Z4 lineup. The new sports car will also get updated LED lights, side-mirror signal indicators and an M-exclusive color.
Motivation is provided by a 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder engine, which is also found on the M135i, producing 320 hp and 450 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The unit is mated to either a six-speed manual or a ZF eight-speed automatic.
When hitting the market, the BMW Z4 M35i will compete with rivals like the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG, Audi TT-RS roadster and the Porsche Boxster S.
