Just a day after leaking for the first time, Land Rover has officially revealed the all-new Range Rover, ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.
According to the British carmaker, it’s lighter, stronger, more capable and more luxurious that any Land Rover has ever been built. The fourth generation model is equipped with a revolutionary lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure which is 39 percent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model. This allows the luxury SUV to save a total weight of 420 kg, depending on market and specifications.
Inside, the rear legroom has been increased by 120 mm thanks to the longer wheelbase. While, the cabin features a new two-seat Executive Class seating package for the ultimate rear-seat Range Rover experience, a panoramic roof, an exclusive Meridian surround sound music system, a large TFT screen and power upper and lower tailgates.
Under the bonnet, customers will have a choice of three engines, including a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged gasoline, a special version of the 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel (offered in the Discovery model) and a 4.4-liter TDV8 diesel engine. All engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox from ZF.
The British carmaker hasn't revealed the new performance and emission numbers, but it will definitely get a boost in terms of efficiency, eco-friendliness and all-round performance.
The 2013 Range Rover will go on sale from September with prices expected to start from £70,000. First deliveries for North America scheduled for December and the rest of the world in early 2013. It will be built at Land Rovers Solihull plant in the UK.
