Honda has officially revealed the 2013 Accord in both Sedan and Coupe body styles.
Set to go on sale in North America this fall, the 9th generation Accord is lighter than its predecessor and this will help improve its handling and driving dynamics. It will compete with rivals such as the 2013 Nissan Altima, 2013 Toyota Camry, VW Passat, 2013 Ford Fusion and the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.
Interior pictures were not released, but the Japanese carmaker says that smart interior packaging allows for increased passenger and cargo space in both the sedan and coupe, while the overall exterior lengths are noticeably shortened, contributing to a sportier driving character and easier parking.
Under the hood, three different engines are available. The new 2.4-liter direct-injected (DI) engine delivers more than 181 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, mated to a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission. The 3.5-liter V6 i-VTEC engine produces 271 hp, mated to a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. The plug-in hybrid will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 161 hp electric motor, a 6 kWh lithium-ion battery and an electric continuously variable transmission (E-CVT).
