Italian carmaker Fiat has just unveiled the 2013 Panda 4x4, ahead of its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show next month.
Described as a "Super Panda," the A-segment car measures 3,680 mm in length, 1,670 mm width and 1,600 mm height. It rides on a 2,300 mm wheelbase and has a front track of 1,410 mm and a rear track of 1,400 mm.
The small crossover is the latest generation of a model series that spans back almost 30 years. The model is distinguished by an off-road inspired body kit with plastic body cladding, underbody protection, aluminum accents and newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels.
The interior features a green dashboard, revised upholstery and "eco" leather accents on the door panels.
Under the bonnet, two engines will be available. The 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo creates 84 hp, while the 1.3-liter MultiJet II diesel develops 74 hp. Both engines are linked with a six-speed manual transmission with low-range in first gear and a permanent four-wheel drive system.
As standard, the Fiat Panda 4x4 comes with an ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system and an ELD (Electronic Locking Differential) system which applies the brakes to wheels that are slipping.
