The pricing for the 2013 Regal in the U.S. has recently been announced by the American carmaker Buick. Accordingly, the model will go on sale this autumn and has a starting price of $29,015 with eAssist as standard - it is just a Start/Stop system.
"It takes advantage of the best parts of a hybrid, and eAssist is now standard equipment for Regal. These new functions happen seamlessly, a requirement for Buick drivers who demand a refined driving experience. They'll really only notice a difference at the pump. With eAssist, Buick is redefining what a 'conventional powertrain' means to costumers. It changes the fuel economy - but not the experience - for the 97 percent of new cary buyers who aren’t buying hybrids." said the eAssist global chief engineer, Stephen Poulos.
Under the hood, the car is powered by a 220 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine paired with a 15 hp electric motor that is powered by a 115-volt lithium-ion battery, while the Regal GS gets 270 hp. The engine is mated to an automatic or a manual transmission, but the eAssist is only offered with the six-speed automatic transmission. In terms of efficiency, the model returns 25 mpg city/36 mpg highway - an increase of 6 mpg city /5 mpg highway compared with its predecessor.
