Vietnam is a developing country in Southeast Asia but here there are a lot of supercars and nice cars. To demonstrate this, our photographer has recently spotted this 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in Saigon.
The Karmann Ghia is a 2+2 coupe and convertible. The model was produced from 1955 to 1974 by Volkswagen - combining the chassis and mechanics of the Type 1 (Beetle), styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by German coach-builder Karmann.
The convertible in question is powered by an OHV four-stroke air-cooled flat 4 engine which is modified with double Solex 32 PBIC carburettor and OKRASA long-stroke crankshaft. Thanks to this, it produces 50 hp at 4,200 rpm and 94 Nm at 2,800 rpm, allowing the 820 kg car to hit a top speed of 150 km/h.
