Volkswagen Beetle Convertible confirmed for US line-up

Volkswagen has recently confirmed the Beetle Convertible will go on sale in the United States in late 2012.

Additional infomation is limited, but the German carmaker said the model will offered with three different engines:

• A 2.5-liter five-cylinder with 170 hp and 240 Nm of torque.
• A 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder with 200 hp and 280 Nm of torque.
• A 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder with 138 hp and 320 Nm of torque.

For the diesel engine, the model will return an EPA estimated 41 mpg on the highway when equipped with the manual transmission.
