Toyota has recently announced the TRD GT86, which was first unveiled earlier this year at the Tokyo Auto Salon, will go on sale in the UK as a special edition in the beginning of January 2013.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the model is described as the "ultimate road going evolution" of the brand's rear wheel drive sports cars. It features a lower front spoiler with new aerodynamic 'fins' ahead of the front wheels, wider side skirts, a larger wing and a new diffuser. There's also a TRD badged oil filler cap and black 18-inch forged alloy wheels fitted with Michelin tyres.
Inside, the cabin has a set of bucket-style sports seats, a TRD badged gearshift knob, a red push button start switch and a new instrument panel which includes the Sports Meter Link System comprising water temperature, oil temperature and pressures.
Under the skin, Toyota Racing Division has installed an upgraded chassis with an adjustable suspension system and thicker anti-roll bars in both the front and rear, a more powerful mono block brake kit larger calipers and grooved and vented rotors sized 355 mm in front and 345 mm in the rear. There's also a new exhaust system allows for better sound and engine response.
Unfortunately, the Toyota TRD GT86 special edition doesn’t get any performance upgrades
