Seat has officially unveiled the third generation Leon, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.

According to the Spanish carmaker, the new hatchback features sportier bumpers, trapezoidal C-pillars and full LED headlamps. The model will use the MQB platform which allows it to weigh approximately 90 kg less than its predecessor.

Inside, the cabin comes with premium materials, a new infotainment system with Easy Connect operating system and Bluetooth/USB/AUX connectivity. There's also a five-inch touchscreen display and a boot holds 380-liter of luggage, around 40-liter more than the preceding model.

In terms of safety, the 2013 Leon can be equipped with a drowsiness detection system, advanced camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror and 'Heading Control' lane-keeping assistant.

Under the hood, five gasoline and four diesels engines will be available:
  • A 1.6-liter TDI with 89 hp as well as 104 hp and 250 Nm of torque
  • A 2.0-liter TDI with 148 hp and 320 Nm of torque as well as 181 hp and 380 Nm of torque
  • A 1.2-liter TSI with 85 hp and 104 hp
  • A 1.4-liter TSI with 120 hp
  • A 1.8-liter TSI with 178 hp
The engine will be mated to a five- and six-speed manual or a six- and seven-speed DSG transmission.
