Yesterday, we have reported that BMW will soon begin selling a diesel version of the 2013 7-Series, with the same engine used on the X5 xDrive35d, in America next year. However, a new report suggests that the German carmaker is currently not planning to offer this luxurious model for the U.S. market.
Thomas J. Plucinsky, BMW’s corporate communications manager, said "BMW is currently not planning any diesel powered 7 Series model for the US market. The updated BMW 7-Series models that arrive this fall will be powered by a 3.0 liter TwinPower Turboinline six-cylinder engine, a 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine with electric motor in the ActiveHybrid 7, updated 4.4 liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine and a 6.0 liter TwinPower Turbo V12 engine".
Initial rumors were saying that the 7-Series diesel will be powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine which could produce 265 hp and 576 Nm of torque or 308 hp and 630 Nm of torque.
