Mercedes-Benz SLC delayed

According to recent report from Auto Motor und Sport, the Mercedes-Benz SLC has been delayed.

Specifically, Mercedes' Board thought the sports car will be just too expensive to compete with the Porsche 911. However, this doesn’t mean that the development of the car has stopped, it just does not get a green light for the moment. The engineers will find ways to reduce costs and eventually get it approved for production.

Initial rumors showed that the Mercedes SLC is expected to be launched in 2014 and feature a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine with 500 hp, allowing the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds and hit a top speed of 185 mph. It has a starting price of around €80,000.
