Lexus has confirmed that it's working on an entry-level GS hybrid to battle the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics and the Audi A6 2.0 TDI.
Speaking with Auto Express, Lexus GS deputy chief engineer Koji Sato said "We are working on a number of solutions to offer low CO2 emissions, and these include a small hybrid."
Very few details have been released, but the model is likely to be called the GS 300h and uses a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine from the Lexus ES 300h and Toyota Camry Hybrid.
The GS300h is expected to be introduced at the Paris Motor Show this September and go on sale late next year, with prices starting from around £30,000.
