Kia has just released the first images and details of the facelifted Sorento, ahead of its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September.

Set to to go on sale around the world later in the fall as a 2014 model, the crossover features redesigned bumpers, new headlamps with LED positioning lights and tailgate with LED rear combination lamps. The South Korean carmaker also offers new range of 19-inch wheels.

Inside, the cabin comes with new materials, a new LCD instrument cluster, new center stack with 7-inch display screen, a larger panoramic sunroof (on certain trim levels) and a new console featuring a straight-gate selector with a leather-booted lever on automatic transmission models.

In addition, the 2014 Sorento also features a re-engineered bodyshell, upgraded chassis, improved fuel economy, lower emissions and better ride.

Thomas Oh, Kia's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the International Business Division, said "Since its introduction in 2009, the second-generation Kia Sorento has achieved more than 620,000 sales around the world. Today, it is manufactured in Korea and the USA, attracting over 130,000 U.S. customers last year to rank as the best-selling Kia model in the States for the second year in a row. We have given very careful attention to owners' feedback, and the upgraded Sorento is not just a cosmetic exercise but a major step forward for our popular SUV".
