According to a new report from Car&Driver, the German carmaker BMW will soon begin selling a diesel version of the 2013 7-Series, which will be badged as either the 735d or 740d, in America next year.

Accordingly, the model will feature the same engine as the X5 xDrive35d, the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine which could produce 265 hp and 576 Nm of torque or 308 hp and 630 Nm of torque.

In related news, the report also says that BMW USA executives wanted to sell the tri-turbo M550d diesel 5-series in the States, but its lifecycle was too short to justify the emissions-compliance costs.
