Alfa Romeo to unveil production 4C next summer

According to a report from Autocar, the production version of the Alfa Romeo 4C concept will be officially unveiled next summer, months earlier than the January 2014 Detroit Auto Show, where it had been tipped to take its public bow.

The report also says that the model will retain its carbon fiber body panels. This is a little surprising since Fiat Engineering chief Mauro Pierallini said it would use a fiberglass reinforced plastic body with aluminum front and rear sub-frames.

Motivation is expected to be provided by a turbocharged 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 296 hp which allows the 850 kg car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
