The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle will have starting price of $24,065, including a $770 destination fee, when it goes on sale in the U.S. in August.
Available in three trim levels, the base model comes with with standard features such as power windows with one-touch up/down, cruise control, V-Tex Leatherette seating, the kaeferfach secondary glovebox, Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with audio controls, keyless entry with push-button start, SiruisXM Satellite Radio, a Media Device Interface with iPod cable and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Motivation is provided by a 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injection Clean Diesel engine delivering 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. All models are mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an option six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission ($1,110). The car has a fuel economy of 41 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg in the city.
