2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid aims for 40 mpg EPA rating

Japanese carmaker Toyota has recently announced the 2013 Avalon Hybrid is aiming for an EPA rating of 40 mpg city and 39 mpg highway.
Set to hit the market later this year, the model will feature the powertrain of the Camry Hybrid which comes with a 154 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and a 46 hp electric motor.
As a reminder, the standard 2013 Toyota Avalon is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 268 hp, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected to receive an EPA rating of 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
