The German carmaker Opel has just revealed the fourth generation Astra, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show in August.
The sedan joins the five-door hatchback, Sports Tourer station wagon and the GTC coupe in the Astra range, before a convertible version will also join later this year.
Inspired by the Insignia, the 2013 Astra measures 4,658 mm long, 1,814 mm wide and 1,476 mm tall with a wheel base of 2,685 mm. The model provides 460-liter of trunk volume (90-liter more than the five-door model) or even 1,010-liter when the 60:40 split rear seats are folded down.
Under the hood, the car will have a choice of seven engines, including four petrol engines with outputs ranging from 99 hp to 177 hp, of which three can be combined with a six-speed automatic transmission, and three diesel engines make between 95 hp and 130 hp. The most economical 1.7-liter CDTI ecoFLEX engines with 110 hp and 130 hp come with Start/Stop as standard, returning a fuel consumption of 3.7-liter per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.
The 2013 Opel Astra Sedan will go on sale this summer in Western European markets, Russia, Turkey, Germany and Spain, but not the UK.
