After being leaked this morning, Mercedes-Benz has now officially unveiled the 2013 CLS Shooting Brake.
Set to go on sale in Europe from November, the Shooting Brake is described as an "unprecedented version of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate" and is based on the second generation CLS coupe. It features LED headlights, a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.
Inside, the cabin comes with leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents. The boot offers 590-liter of luggage space, expandable to 1550-liter when the rear seats are folded down and can be equipped with a wooden floor that made from cherry wood, the inlaid smoked oak and aluminium loading rails.
Under the bonnet, four different engines are available, two diesel and two petrol engines. On the diesel side, the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine with 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. This allows the wagon to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 235 km/h.
Next, the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY has a 3.0-liter V6 engine 261 hp and 620 Nm of torque. It enables the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
On the petrol side, the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY features a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 302 hp and 370 Nm of torque, allowing it to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
Meanwhile, the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY uses a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 engine 402 hp and 600 Nm of torque. This allows the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
All engines are mated to a 7G-tronic automatic transmission and are available with either rear- or 4Matic all-wheel drive, with the exception of the CLS 250 CDI which comes with the rear wheels only.
Lastly, the 2013 CLS Shooting Brake is packed with safety features like Active Blind Spot Assistant, Distronic Plus, Pre-Safe, the Lane Keeping Assist and Actie LED headlights.
