Audi has officially unveiled the SQ5 TDI, ahead of its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

According to the German carmaker, the crossover features modified bumpers, a platinum gray single-frame grille with glossy double blades and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. There's also a sport suspension which reduces the ride height by 30mm, aluminum-look side-mirror caps and 20-inch alloy wheels (21-inch wheels are optional) with 255/45 tires.

Interior changes are limited, but the cabin has been equipped with power-adjustable sport seats, brushed aluminum inlays, S-spec steering wheel, revised instrumentation and plenty of S badging.

Motivation is provided by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine with 309 hp at 4,500 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 2,800 rpm. The power is send to a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h, while returning an average fuel consumption of 7.2 lt/100 km (32.7 US mpg or 39.2 UK mpg).

The SQ5 TDI will go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2013 and pricing starts at €58,500, but it remains unknown if Audi plans to sell the SUV in the U.S.
