As a tribute to the United States military members both past and present, Jeep has unveiled the 2012 Wrangler Freedom Edition, which will be available in three colors: Deep Cherry Red, Bright White and True Blue.

According to the North American carmaker, the special edition is based on the Wrangler Sport and is available in two- or four-door body styles. It features Mineral Gray-painted grille, military-inspired decals on the hood and rear quarter panels, black sidesteps, black taillight guards along with front and rear bumper inserts. There's also a Sunrider soft top with tinted rear windows, "Oscar Mike" badging, a Mopar fuel door and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin gets black seats with rugged tectonic fabric, an “Oscar Mike” logo embroidered on the seat backs, French Silver accent stitching on the steering wheel, doors, seats and front arm rest, plus a set of Mopar Slush Mats.

Motivation is provided by a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 hp (212 kW / 289 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds and return 21 mpg US (11.2L/100km / 25.2 mpg UK) highway.

Pricing starts at $28,165 and Jeep will donate $250 to charities that benefit the U.S. military members: Fisher House Foundation and the I Support Foundation.
