Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 recalled

Chrysler 300

Chrysler has recently issued a recall for 119,700 units of the 2011-2012 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans because of a problem with the power distribution center which might affect the anti-locking braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC).

"A plastic insert surrounding a fuse may be subject to distortion caused by thermal expansion and contraction," the North American carmaker said in a statement. "Such distortion could interrupt power to the ABS/ESC control system and temporarily suspend its function".

Chrysler said that it’s not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this problem. However, the failure and loss of those two safety systems increases the risk of a potential car crash.

“Despite a small number of incidents, we concluded it was in the best interest of our customers to repair the vehicles and eliminate the potential for this condition to occur”, said David Dillon, Head of Product Investigations and Campaigns, Chrysler Group LLC.

If your car is affected by this problem, it will be fitted a new free fuse. For further information, you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 or Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
