At the 26th annual Electric Vehicle Symposium in Los Angeles, Toyota has announced the 2013 RAV4 EV will start at $49,800, excluding the $810 destination and handling charge.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the electric vehicle offers a driving range of up to 161 km and has a charging time of approximately six hours using a 240V/40A charger. Power comes from a 154 hp electric motor with a battery mounted low and to the center of the vehicle.
The front wheel drive-only electric SUV allows drivers to select from two distinctly different drive modes, Sport and Normal. If the Sport option is active, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds and hit a top speed of 161 km/h.
Sales will start later this summer in California before it arrives in other selected markets.
