SEAT has officially unveiled the Ibiza CUPRA concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.
Described as an "every day" sports car, the hatchback is based on the VW Polo and is designed to preview the production model. It features a new front bumper with massive air intake, a new lower grille, bi-xenon headlights and triangular foglights. There's also a rear diffuser with a center-mounted exhaust system and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin comes with two-tone leather sport seats, a redesigned three-spoke sports steering wheel with the Cupra logo, a new climate control display, unique instrumentation, a removable infotainment system with a five-inch display and gloss black trim.
Under the hood, the concept is powered by a super- and turbocharged 1.4-liter TSI engine with 178 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission and an XDS electronically locking differential, which drive the front wheels.
According to the Spanish carmaker, the production version of the Ibiza CUPRA concept will go on sale in Europe later this year.
