Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) owned MG Motor has recently announced plans to introduce the Icon concept at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show next week.
As you can see in the official sketches, the Icon is a five-door crossover with retro-inspired styling that recalls the original MGB GT. The concept is designed to preview an production model, which will be introduced to the Chinese market in 2014.
Additional information is limited, but the crossover is based on the same platform that underpins the MG 5 and the Chinese market Roewe 350. So power could be provided by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 135 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
