Lincoln has just revealed the first official images and details of the 2013 MKZ, ahead of its debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show this week.

Set to go on sale later this year, the 2013 MKZ is created by a team led by former Cadillac designer Max Wolff and features a large retractable panoramic glass roof.

Inside, the cabin comes with a full LCD instrumentation panel boasting Ford's Sync infotainment system with MyLincoln Touch, an 11-speaker entertainment system and cabin air filtration, plus heated front seats (with the driver's featuring 10-way power controls), remote start capabilities and Active Noise Control.

Safety features include the Lincoln Drive Control, Collision Warning with Brake Support, Active Park Assist, Lane Keeping Alert, a Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and inflatable rear safety belts that compliment the eight standard airbags.

Under the hood, three engine options are available. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder generates 240 hp and 366 Nm of torque, returning an estimated 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Next, the 3.7-liter V6 engine produces 300 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, returning an estimated 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Lastly, the hybrid version which couples a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor, will produce 188 hp and 175 Nm of torque, returning an estimated 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

The 2.0-liter EcoBoost and 3.7-liter V6 engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and are offered in both front- and all-wheel drive variants, while the hybrid model is available with front-wheel drive and a CVT.

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ has a starting price of about $41,000.
