Ford has officially revealed the 2012 Focus Electric pace car, ahead of its debut this weekend at the NASCAR Capital City 400.
According to North American carmaker, the pace car will become the first all-electric vehicle to field a NASCAR Sprint Cup event. It is equipped with a light bar on the roof and gaudy graphics.
Under the hood, the Focus Electric has a starting price of $39,200 and features a 143 hp electric motor with a 23 kWh lithium-ion battery. This allows the car to hit an estimated top speed of 136 km/h and can travel up to 161 km on a single charge. With the 240-volt outlet, the model can reach full charge in 3 to 4 hours. It returns 110 MPGe in the city and 99 MPGe on the highway.
