VW to produce some Porsche Boxsters from this fall

According to a report from Ward's Auto, Volkswagen will produce some Porsche Boxsters at the company’s Osnabrueck plant in Germany from this fall.

The report says that the Boxster would be built alongside the VW Golf Cabrio. Currently the Osnabrueck plant has 1,250 employees and can produce 100,000 vehicles annually. So it will help the German carmaker Porsche keep up with demand for the popular roadster.

As a small reminder, until last year, Finnish contract-assembler Valmet Automotive used to be Porsche’s partner for overflow production. Between 1997 and 2011, Valmet has manufactured 227,890 Porsche Boxster and Cayman sports cars at the Uusikaupunki plant, Finland.
