Nissan Invitation Concept

Nissan has just introduced the Invitation concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show today.

According to the Japanese carmaker, the five-door hatchback attracts with a prominent grille, a "squash" character line and an one-piece fixed glass roof. There's also a 360-degree around view monitor system and various Safety Shield Technologies which "interact with the driving environment keeping the driver aware of what is happening around the car."

The concept is based on the new V-platform which also underpins the Micra and measures 4,150 mm long, 1,740 mm wide and 1,470 mm tall. It features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam axle rear suspension.

Under the hood, the Invitation concept will likely get a 1.4-liter petrol with 88 hp and a 1.6-liter petrol with 110 hp as well as a 1.5-liter dCi engine. Nissan also says that the production variant is targeted to have CO2 emissions of under 100 g/km.

The production Invitation will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, where the brand invested £125 million ($196.7 million). The model will go on sale in 2013.
