The Infiniti Emerg-E Concept has been unveiled to the world's media at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

According to the Japanese carmaker, the concept might hit the production line, depending on the public and media reaction. The design has been derived by the Essence Concept back in 2009 and more recently in the Etherea from last year.

The Emerg-E will be propelled by a mid-mounted range-extender drivetrain, which includes two electric motors with each of them produces 201 hp and a Lotus-derived 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 47 hp. This allows the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds and CO2 emissions of 55g/km.

Infiniti says that the concept can drive up to 30 miles on electric power alone, but the range is extended to 300 miles with the help of the electric engine.

If the sports car makes it into production, it’s expected to have a starting price of $150,000, with the majority of sales set to be completed in Europe.
