Geneva 2012: Gumpert Apollo R and Apollo Enraged

Gumpert has recently unveiled two world premieres of its Apollo supercar at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the purebred Apollo R race car and the street legal Apollo Enraged special edition.

According to the German sports carmaker, the demand from Asia has contributed to the birth of a pure race car in addition to the street legal Apollo and Apollo S models.

The Gumpert Apollo R is powered by an Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V8 twin turbo engine with 860 hp, while the standard engine develops 650 hp. It features bespoke chassis and suspension, enhanced engine and transmission cooling system, optimization of the intake air ducts, racing gearbox and a special racing exhaust system.

Meanwhile, the Apollo Enraged special edition is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with 780 hp at 6,000 rpm and 920 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a fully synchronised twin-plate clutch seven-speed paddle shift transmission with two gearbox settings and a locking differential, allowing the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 330 km/h.

The hypercar comes with the German flag embroidered on the seat and headrest, while the digital LCD instrument panel is the most noticeable special feature in the cabin. It’s limited to only three units.
