Mercedes-Benz has just released the first details of the 2013 SL65 AMG, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show next month.

According to the German carmaker, the 2013 SL65 AMG will be the first model to wear the AMG face on its front fascia and uses an all-aluminium bodyshell, so the model is some 170 kilograms lighter than before.

Power comes from a 6.2-liter V12 biturbo engine with 621 hp at 4,800-5,400 rpm and an electronically limited peak torque of 1,000 Nm at 2,300-4,300 rpm. It is mated to a AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission and has a choice of four different driving modes: Efficiency (C), Sport (S), Sport plus (S+) and Manual (M).

The roadster can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). While economy has been improved by 17% to 11.6-liter per 100 km.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG will be launched in Germany in September, with a starting price of €236,334.
