The 2012 Toyota Prius C has recently been launched in Australia, with a starting price of AUD23,990.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the model becomes the cheapest hybrid on the Australian market. It is slightly more expensive than in the US ($18,950) but still cheaper than all other markets.
The Prius C is offered with one powertrain, comprising of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, which develops a total output of 100 hp. The power is transmitted to the front wheels via a standard continuously variable transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10,7 seconds and returns 3.9-liter per 100 km on the combined cycle.
Toyota says that the car is available in two trim levels: Prius C (AUD23,990) and Prius C i-Tech (AUD26,990). The entry-level Prius C comes with standard features include Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity, rear view camera, CD player, 3.5-inch colour multi-information display, cruise control, foglights, power windows and mirrors, keyless entry and engine start and 15-inch wheels.
Meanwhile, besides the standard features mentioned above, the Prius C i-Tech adds satellite navigation with live traffic updates, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, power retractable exterior mirrors, a larger rear spoiler, premium seat coverings and interior trim.
