Volkswagen has recently revealed the first images and details for the production GTI Golf Cabriolet, ahead of its official world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6.
Set to go on sale in Europe later this year, the model features an electrically powered fabric roof that can be folded away in just 9.5 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 30 km/h. According to the German carmaker, the car come as standard with EDS electronic differential lock and XDS transverse differential lock help to ensure that the power is easily transferred to the road.
Under the hood, the Golf GTI Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower and 280 Nm of toruqe available at just 1,700 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 236 km/h.
