Land Rover builds 1,000,000th Discovery


Land Rover has built their 1,000,000th Discovery at the company's Solihull plant in West Midlands in the UK.

To celebrate this milestone, the model will embark on an long expedition from Birmingham, UK to one of its fastest growing markets Beijing in China. The trip will cover some 8,000 mile over 13 countries and should take about 50 days, so it can be displayed at the Beijing Motor Show on April 23.

As part of the journey, Land Rover plans to raise about $1.5 million (£1 million) for the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. The funds will be used to support a water sanitation project in Uganda.
