Jaguar considering a track-focused XKR-S Coupe

In an interview with Car&Driver, Jaguar’s global head of communications Frank Klaas said the brand is considering a track-oriented special edition which could be named after the Nürburgring

He said the model would appeal to the guy who wants to drive to the track, lap or race to his heart’s content, and drive it home. It would be built by Jaguar’s in-house Engineered To Order (ETO) group.

Additional infomation is limited, but the car could feature an aerodynamic body kit, a fire-suppression system, unique gauges, hard-core racing seats and a roll cage. The rear seats could be jettisoned to reduce weight and improve performance.

According to Frank Klaas, a faster and lighter convertible version is not being considered at this point, but a concept could be introduced later this year.
