According to a report from Autocar, the next-generation Audi R8 is being developed and is expected to go on sale in the UK during the third quarter of 2014.
The report also says that the car will have an advanced carbon fiber and aluminum monocoque that weighs just 198 kg. That’s 24 kg less than the all-aluminium structure used by today’s R8. This enable the R8 to weigh 1,500 kg (60 kg less than the current model).
Under the hood, the 2014 R8 receive updated versions of the first-generation R8’s engines, optimised for greater power and fuel economy. These changes should enable the 4.2-liter V8 to produce approximately 450 hp, while the 5.2-liter V10 will develop about 550 hp and return 25.7 mpg in combination with a new seven-speed. There's also a GT variant which has a lightweight body and 580 hp version of Audi’s 5.2-litre V10.
Meanwhile, the R8 facelift is expected to to make its public debut at the Moscow motor show in August.
