Toyota has recently released the official European performance specifications for the 2012 Prius Plug-in Hybrid.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the model has been rated at 134.5 mpg (2.1 l/100 km) and CO2 emissions of 49 g/km. When the battery is depleted, the car switches into HV mode, it consumes 3.7 l/100 km (76.4 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 85 g/km.
The battery can be fully recharged in 90 minutes using a conventional plug. Toyota says that the Plug-in Hybrid model could travel 25 km (15.5 miles) on electricity alone.
As a reminder, the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid is powered by a 1.8-liter petrol engine with 98 horsepower, helped by an 81 hp electric motor and a 4.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. This gives the car a total output of 134 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 180 km/h.
More details will be announced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
