BMW Motorsport has unveiled the 2012 BMW M3 DTM Safety Car at the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Based on the BMW M3 GTS, the car features a black grille, light bar, ventilated hood and 19-inch competition wheels. Inside, there's a pair of Recaro bucket seats, an M Performance steering wheel and a combination of three-point and six-point harnesses. Meanwhile, the engine bonnet has also been replaced with a new bonnet with CFRP with vents.
The most noticeable changes are the orange lights on the roof of the car, which are typical of Safety Cars, and the bolted, steel-pipe safety cell.
Power comes from a 4.4-liter V8 engine with 450 hp at 8,300 rpm. It is mated to a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission with Drivelogic.
