1,200 HP Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse revealed

Bugatti has recently revealed the Veyron Sport Vitesse, the world’s fastest roadster, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

According to the carmaker, the Grand Sport Vitesse is essentially a mix between the Grand Sport (roadster) and Super Sport. It comes with the body structure of the Grand Sport, while the visual appearance and performance are closer to the Super Sport, which holds the current world speed record of 431km/h (268 mph).

The Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse borrows the engine from the Super Sport, which means it gets a 16-cylinder engine with larger turbos and intercoolers, which delivers a total output of 1,200 hp at 6,400 rpm and 1,500 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm. The chassis has also been modified to support the power increase. However, the performance details are still to be revealed.

In a press statement, Bugatti President Wolfgang Dürheimer said “The rapid success of the Super Sport convinced us to increase the performance of the Bugatti roadster. Once again our engineers worked hard to demonstrate that Bugatti is able to constantly redefine the boundaries of what is technically feasible. We gave our all to transfer the achievements of the Super Sport over to the Grand Sport, thereby turning open-top driving itself into an extraordinary experience at high speed”.
