Volvo has announced it will officially present the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show next week.
Just like the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid, the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept is actually an all-in-one hybrid, electric and performance vehicle by using the gasoline engine or electric motor. The model has three modes of operation: Pure, Hybrid or Power. According to the Swedish automaker, the car has a range of 35 miles (56 km) in Pure mode. In Hybrid mode, offering an average fuel consumption of 2.3-liter/100 km and emissions CO2 of 53 g/km.
In Power mode, the diesel engine and electric motor are optimized to produce a total output of 280 hp 70hp and maximum torque of 380 Nm 200 Nm respectively. This allows the concept car to accelerate from 096 km/h in 5.8 seconds, while 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
In essence, the he Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid is provided by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a combined output of 350 hp. The electric motor is powered by a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Recharging takes just 3.5 hours via a 220V/12A outlet.
