Volkswagen has officially announced plans to introduce the E-Bugster Concept and the 2013 Jetta Hybrid at the North American International Auto Show tomorrow.
First up, the 2013 Jetta Hybrid is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol turbo engine with 150 hp and 249 Nm of torque, which is helped by an electric motor to offer a combined output of 170 hp. It accelerates from 0-96 km/h in less than 9 seconds and offers a combined 45 mpg. According to carmaker, the Jetta Hybrid is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission which can help the model run on the electric motor exclusively for 1.2 miles up to 44 mph.
The E-Bugster Concept is based on the 2012 Beetle and pays tribute to the Volkswagen Ragster concept, which was launched a few years ago at the same event. The model features an electric motor with 114 hp and 270 Nm of torque from a 315 kg lithium-ion battery pack located in the rear. The driving range is less than 100 miles and the car can be charged up to 80% in only 30 minutes with a quick charge level.
