New Ram Dakota confirmed

Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has confirmed plans to build a new Ram Dakota.

Speaking to Inside Line at the Detroit Auto Show, the executive said there is a "better than 50% chance" the model will have a unibody construction. This might limit some of the truck’s off-roading abilities, but it could enable the truck to be lighter and more fuel efficient.

Marchionne also hinted the new Dakota could receive a diesel engine, which would be borrowed from the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Additional infomation is limited, but the new Ram Dakota is expected to show up in late 2013 or early 2014.
