According to a new report from Autocar, the next generation Land Rover Defender will be built at the manufacturing headquarters of parent company Tata Motors in Pune, India.
The move will apparently reduce costs while putting production closer to markets where the model is still popular. Meanwhile, some vehicles could be sent back to Europe for final assembly.
Regardless, the 2015 Defender is expected to share the chassis and suspension parts with the Tata Aria SUV, while styling will be heavily influenced by the DC100 concepts, which were introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, but expect a revised grille and a more functional interior.
