Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel coming in 2013


Chrysler has announced that a diesel version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be made at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.

Set to hit the local auto market in the U.S. in 2013, the model is expected to be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 190 hp and 440 Nm of torque. In Europe the CRD engine produces 237 hp and 550 Nm of torque.

The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. According the North American based automaker, the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel has a combined fuel consumption average of 8.3 l/100 km (28.3 mpg).
