Ford has just presented the Ecosport in India, ahead of its official debut at the New Delhi Auto Expo tomorrow.
Based on the B-segment Fiesta platform, the model features high ground clearance and integrated lower body cladding for that rugged look. Highlights include a very large, trapezoidal grille at the front, a tailgate-mounted spare tire and a wraparound rear window.
Power comes from a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder Ecoboost engine with 120 hp and 170 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. In addtion, this engine will also be offered in other Ford models in North America, Europe, China and other regions such as the upcoming B-MAX small MPV.
Initially targeted to emerging markets, but the Ford EcoSport will eventually launch globally and will be produced at plants in Brazil and India.
