Porsche has officially revealed the 2013 Boxter, ahead of its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Set to hit the market on April 14, the new Boxter has an entirely new lightweight body with a longer wheelbase, a wider track, larger wheels, a new electromechanical power steering system and a completely revamped chassis.
Insides, the cabin offers the driver and passenger more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with a raked center console originating from the Carrera GT.
Both Boxster and Boxster S are powered by flat-six engines with direct fuel injection which feature new technologies such as electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function.
The Boxter delivers 265 hp from a 2.7-liter displacement - 10 hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. The Boxster S gets a 3.4-liter engine delivering 315 hp - 5 hp more than the previous version. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. This allows the Boxter to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and the Boxster S is 5.0 seconds.
Fuel consumption for the Boxster with PDK is 7.7-liter/100 km (30.5 mpg US) and the Boxster S is 8.0-liter/100 km (29.4 mpg US).
The 2013 Porsche Boxter will start at $49,500, while the Boxter S will cost $60,900 (not including a $950 destination charge).
